For commissioners and supervisory board members who go beyond the codes of governance; who wish to be guided by wisdom, values, and reflection; who recognize that they, as individuals, play a crucial role in the decision-making process involving multiple value considerations in the boardroom; who want to delve into relevant academic knowledge and practical examples, and translate these into their own supervisory practice and repertoire.

It almost seems like a paradox. In a time when everything is moving faster, the availability of information has never been so vast, and the pressure to react immediately is the norm, the role of governance should be based on a values-driven vision, appropriate distance, integrity, and the courage to “sleep on it.”

Governance is not hindered by a lack of knowledge or decisiveness, but often by a lack of wisdom and a shared framework of values.

Society is increasingly evolving into a networked society, with issues that challenge private and not-for-profit organizations to at least understand each other and, more and more frequently, collaborate in networks, alliances, and ecosystems. This requires commissioners and supervisory board members to be able to navigate and understand the three distinct logics of the market, politics, and the public domain, or society. This requires commissioners and supervisory board members to be able to engage with and understand the three distinct logics of the market, politics, and the public domain, or society. How to do this responsibly goes beyond the codes.

Interesting alternative

Do you recognize yourself in this? Then this commissioner training program is worth considering as a ‘valuable’ alternative to other post-academic commissioner programs.

This program is a collaboration between the University for Humanistics and Hemingway and is university accredited. It consists of 7 full days and one online evening, with ample time for reflection and personal development, making it different from our other programs.
